So, I finally get another job offer. An offer which,combined with my other jobs would put me comfortably in the 30-40 hour a week range. This is what I've been trying for since I started looking for work at Ball State.
Guess what?
The university imposes limits on how much a student can work over fall and spring semester. So this leaves me with a few choices. I can can the TV station job, which has the worst and least amount of hours, but could most directly benefit me in the future. I can reject the job I recieved today with the most and best hours but probably won't do much for me down the road.
Right now I've chosesn to try to get the school to make an exception, but I have a feeling that won't happen. Plus I don't know how long that could take.
It's ridiculous. Miami let student work as much as they wanted. We had a guy in the dining halls who was working over 40 hours.
For once I just want something good to happen and not have to deal with any after effects or pull any strings to see the benefits.
I don't know how people make it in this world.

I'll be going for computer science. I'm a bit worried about my math skills, but I think I'll be ok.
If you're worried about the math part, you might consider doing systems instead of the straight up CpuE. Little less math, almost the same stuff, and there's a pretty good job market out there.
As to the job stuff, is it dependent on the number of credit hours you have? I'm surprised that they would be putting restrictions on that. It's at least worth asking, since you'd be considered to be an "adult student". That may make a difference in their work restrictions

It is not dependent on the credit hours. It's some stupid bullshit that the university says is the result of some federal mandate. The head of the student career center told me this. It felt like a line then, and it feels like a line now.
As to the math, I'm pretty sure I can do it, I just like to psych myself out of things. That and it's been over 7 years since I did any sort of advance mathematics.

You already have an undergrad. You're considered to be a "non-traditional student", since you're a bit older than the traditional undergrad and are coming from the working world, they should be taking this into consideration. If they can let some guy with 3 kids work and go to school at the same time, they should be able to let you.
Be a pain, and ask to talk to somebody higher up than him :-p
